Jim Kilpin has been a part-time Community Minister at Avenue Baptist Church since 2008, working two days a week his role is to help the church engage creatively with their surrounding communty and to experiment with new ways of doing mission and being church. The rest of his time is spent coordinating the work, with his wife Juliet, of Urban Expression, an urban mission agency planting churches in six cities across Britain. Jim is married to Juliet have two children and a dog. They enjoy going for long walks with the dog, going on holidays with friends and eating curries!
Andrew is a full time minister at Avenue Baptist Church since September 2013 and loves the huge variety of opportunities that comes with being a minister. He works from an office in the church and if you ever wanted to pop by for a chat, cup of tea or prayer he would love to see you.
Andrew is married to Rachel and they have three children Aimee, Joshua and Bethanie and are truly blessed to have a grandson, Isaiah. But also not forgetting their dog Beau.
Alison is our Parish Nurse using her nursing and counselling skills in a voluntary capacity. Parish nursing enables me to do a variety of things in the church as well as in the community.
Currently we are developing a service to enable carers to deal with the problems associated with nutrition. This is aimed particularly at carers of people with cancer. Please email for further information.
We have links with the Terrence Higgins Trust seeking to work with improving the take up of HIV testing in the town. We are also exploring other ways in which we can work with the public health team.
Our church is working towards becoming dementia friendly & we are members of the Southend Dementia Action Alliance. If you would like to know more about dementia friends, please email.
I regularly visit two local care homes spending time with residents & activities also include short services around Christian festivals.
I run chair based exercise groups, share responsibility for our pastoral care team & do home visits including communion for those who would like it.
Stephen is our Church Secretary and one of his main responsibility is the smooth running of the church, this involves liaising with church groups and outside bodies such as the Baptist Union, Local Council, Insurers etc.
I am married and have two grown up children and am a passionate Southend United supporter who enjoys my allotment and socialising.
